Our commitments

A rich environment protected by sustainable practices to preserve surrounding ecosystems

Preserving an exceptional terroir

Château l’Escarelle spans 1,200 hectares of preserved nature, including 110 hectares of vineyards certified in organic farming and High Environmental Value (HVE3).
Aware of the richness of this environment, we are committed to protecting it and adopting sustainable practices that respect the ecosystems around us.

Numerous initiatives to preserve the estate’s fauna and flora

Committed to nature

Every day, we commit to preserving fauna, flora, and limiting our carbon footprint through numerous initiatives. Among them:

  • 40 beehives, 70 nesting boxes and over 100 species of butterfly thanks to a preserved ecosystem.
  • 90% of the estate in protected forests and natural areas.
  • 900 organic olive trees producing PDO Provence olive oil.
  • 900 solar panels to reduce our energy footprint.
  • A unique collection of ancient grape varieties to anticipate climate change.
And much more, every day, for biodiversity.

A dedicated space for the preservation and study of butterflies

The Butterfly Garden

In the heart of the estate, a 2,300 m² space was developed in partnership with the Ligue de Protection des Oiseaux (LPO) and the Itancia endowment fund to preserve and study butterflies. More than 100 species have been recorded here, making this site a unique refuge in Provence. This educational site, open to visitors, invites young and old alike to discover the richness of biodiversity and the importance of its preservation.

The Itancia Foundation works to protect nature

The Itancia Foundation

Created by Yann Pineau, owner of Château l’Escarelle, the Itancia Foundation supports concrete projects to protect nature in France and internationally. Its actions are structured around four main pillars:

  • Safeguarding natural environments
  • Promoting environmentally respectful techniques
  • Fighting against waste and pollution
  • Protecting species and their habitats
Thanks to this foundation, Château l’Escarelle is a committed player in building a more sustainable future.

Yann Pineau: Owner of the estate
“For many years, I have worked to share my commitment to ecology and the urgency of acting to preserve our planet. The 21st-century company must adopt a sustainable development policy, or risk destroying its own environment.
I believe it is still possible to slow the destruction of nature and that collective mobilization will make the difference. While profit remains a goal, it cannot be the only purpose. This is why the ITANCIA endowment fund is committed to supporting concrete initiatives to preserve our ecosystem and promote a more responsible future.”
